Texans with an artic fixation? yeah, why not. Since when was death metal troubled by geographical reality? And a thematic sense of escapism has always been one of the death metal genre’s greatest facets – exactly where Frozen Soul excel: freezing your knackers off while also reinventing the best aspects of Bolt Thrower (with a few tasty tech flourishes thrown in), and vibing-out to the cosmic-nightmare of John Carpenter’s The Thing. Far too good for Century Media. They should be on Relapse, really. A triumphant album that is further reinforced by studio collaborations and guest appearances from members of Trivium, Dying Fetus, Creeping Death and Blake Ibanez of Power Trip/Fugitive.
