The Ex – “Catch My Shoe ” LP
Their first record – after the departure of their original vocalist G.W. Sok – to feature new member, Arnold de Boer, from the band Zea, on vocals, guitar and keyboard. It is also the band’s first album recorded without a bass player and has The Ex’s two other guitarists trading off duties on lower pitched baritone guitars.
An amazing montage of off-kilter, Afro-influenced drum patterns alinged with the weaving interplay of two rhythm guitars, the likes of which only Sonic Youth could match for inventiveness and dischordant richness of tone. A legendary band given a whole new lease of life by the addition of fresh, (and younger) vocals.
