Ecstatic Vision – “For the Masses” LP
Formed in late 2013, this is the third album by these Philadelphian hard-rockers. Released in 2019, following-on from the previous two albums that were on Relapse Records. The essence of Hawkwind is writ large all over this brilliantly named outfit – you can hear plenty of it in the Lemmy-esque basslines and the trancy sci-fi effects – this is a band of cosmic freaks who set out to play a version of what they want to hear, which also happens to include elements of Aphrodites Child, Olatunji, Can and early Amon Duul ll. And a homage to the Groundhogs on the front sleeve. Ticking the boxes!
