DYS – “Fire & Ice” Tape Cassette
The Boston band’s second album, originally released in 1985 (as self-titled) and then re-released in the early 1990s as Fire & Ice. The music retained the punk and hardcore that they known for in their earlier days, but Dave Smalley’s heavy metal vocal stylings are just, err, appalling. How he got the Dag Nasty gig after this performance, I’ll never know. I bet he wishes this album could be erased from his discography (I, on the other hand, whish that many other musical projects could be erased from his discography). Still available on original cassette format (“Digitally remastered re-issue of the 2nd DYS LP from 1985”), and so, thankfully, you don’t have to pay out much cash in order to own it.
