Description

Drowningman – “Busy Signal At The Suicide Hotline” LP

Formed in Burlington, Vermont, in the late 1990’s, Drowingman were a staple of the American northeast, fitting in perfectly with fellow acts like Converge and Cave In, and all centred around the innovative, and super-exciting, Hydra Head label. Hardcore vocalists got screaming with newfound wildness and intensity, matched by guitars that drums that explored new patterns of unpredictable timing and angular technicality. It got heavier. It got discordant. I don’t want to go all ‘glory days’, but ‘metalcore’ was a very exciting and credible tag back in those pioneer days.
Iodine Recordings have reissued the debut Drowning Man album, Busy Signal at the Suicide Hotline, in celebration of the record’s 25th anniversary. This new release also features two bonus tracks, originally from their split with The Dillinger Escape Plan. Remastered for vinyl in 2023 by Jack Shirley.
