Converge – “Bloodmoon: I” double LP
The first studio album in the four years since 2017’s The Dusk in Us. For this release Converge have teamed-up with Chelsea Wolfe and her collaborator Ben Chisholm as well as former Converge member and longtime collaborator Stephen Brodsky of Cave In, the assembled seven-piece line-up makes this album as much a debut by ‘Bloodmoon’ as it is the tenth album for Converge. The fraught, heavyweight barrage of their tried and tested formula is expanded to an even more epic sense of grandeur. Tempered by stripped down, folk-tinged pieces, hinting at arcane mysticism and occult danger. Listening to it now, I’m struck by a similarity to what Ink And Dagger were doing many years ago.
