Clowns – “Nature/Nurture” LP
Melbourne’s Clowns presents their fourth LP and first for Fat after multiple efforts on independent Aussie labels. Melodic tunes, like you would expect from this label, played with a hardcore speed and rage – they got some bile in their bellies – while the fast, hard, thump of the beats and the heavy thickness of the guitars add a weight and punchiness that I don’t tend to associate with Fat. There’s an unexpected 90’s alternative-rock-vibe occassionaly in the mix, too, which I rather dig. And they don’t sound at all like NO FX, which I dig even more.
