Bucket Full of Teeth – “I / II / III / IV” Double LP
Brad Wallace and Will Killingsworth, both founding members of Orchid, re-united in 2001 along with drummer Matt Wilga of Cancer Kids. The idea was to enjoy some gindcore/power-violence fun/catharsis, but over the course of the first three 7″s (released by Youth Attack) and the LP, IV (released by Level Plane in 2005) something much bigger and broader evolved. Incorporating Man Is The Bastard avant-grind with grooves and riffs copied form the world of heavy music, then shunting everything a little further in to the realms of the unknown. The Orchid family tree is a wonderful thing to marvel at. I haven’t seen it, and it’s beyond me to sit down and work it all out, but I do know that it includes some ridiculously good bands: Wolves, Failures, Transistor Transistor, Panthers, and, by association, countless more. And Bucket Full Of Teeth rank high among ’em, so this double album is an excellent way to nab their discography, to help collate and anthologize those essential Orchid family connections.
