Avail – “4am Friday / Live At The Bottom Of The Hill In San Francisco” Double LP

These guys from Richmond, Virginia tore their way through the 1990s punk scene – starting with Old Glory Records, then Lookout!, ending-up on Fat Wreck. Touring the world countless times. Hugely influenced by the neighbouring Washington DC scene of their youth (Scream, Gray Matter, King Face), Avail were much broader in their scope than most of their pop-punk label mates, something more along the lines of DIY hardcore meets leftfield rock. 4am Friday is their third album, originally released on Lookout! Records in 1996. This Jade Tree repress is now completed by the addition of the 15 songs from Live At The Bottom Of The Hill In San Francisco, recorded in 1997 and released by Lookout! in 1998. Remastering, newly written liner notes, freshly unearthed photos, and new artwork complete the package (including a gig flyer done by me!! oh, fame! …hideous tricks on the brain etc etc.).
