Blackened stoner punk from the swamps of Savannah, Georgia, where they’ve been banging heads for the past 19 years, and with no signs of letting-up. As part of a regional trinity alongside Baroness and Kylesa, Black Tusk have always pushed hardest for an extra dose of filthy punk-fuelled rage, and those hardcore tendencies that leant more towards (early) Neurosis, HHIG, Poison Idea remain at the forefront of their sound on this, their sixth studio album. Of that crucial, sludgey, Savannah holy trinity, Black Tusk still win the largest helping of my support and allegiance. In fact sometimes, in my mental (metal) filing system, I place them alongside High On Fire more than anyone else. A roaring, triumphant return.
