The latest instalment in this unique ensemble’s continuing saga, and their first for Nuclear Blast, leaving behind a trail of records on Denovali Records that leads all the way back to 2008. Celeste, based in Lyon, are one of extreme-metal’s darkest, cult-like secrets – a blackened amalgamation of post-hardcore and post-metal. Slow, thick, heavy and unrelentingly intense; if you celebrate the work of Envy, Cult Of Luna, Isis, Deafheaven and Fall of Efrafa you probably know all about this French band already. The sleeve art, production, sound textures (even the title) are all instantly recognisable as Celeste, but lockdown isolation meant that each member was forced to write individually, which has lead to some subtle changes in their song writing formula.
