War On Women “Time Under Tension” LP
The fourth album from the long serving (since 2010!) Baltimore political hardcore band. A welcome return – yeah, I had kind of forgotten about War On Women, too. It has been six years since the Wonderful Hell LP, afterall. Back again, and, not surprising, with a slightly matured, new sound – as in, less of the outward looking hardcore punk rage and fury, and a little more post hardcore introspection, instead. As Shawna Potter is quite a significant talent when it comes to singing and songwriting (as well as being a sharp-minded thinker/agitator), this comes as a safe new direction, and like a lot of top quality post-hardcore, this sounds like a top quality indie-rock/alternative band with both added suss and teeth.
