Various – “Still No P.E.A.C.E. Still War” LP (black vinyl)
A twenty two band compilation acting as a modern day sampler of international DIY musical protest and dissent.
Picking-up the legacy of the famous compilation – commonly referred to as the P.E.A.C.E. comp – that was put together by MDC’s Dave Dictor and M.R.R. Zine back in 1984. Fast forward 41 years and here we are in 2025, with musicians across the globe coming together to raise money for a cause: the starvation and devastation caused by the on-going genocide in Palestine.
Each of the 22 bands featured here provide a fantastic snapshot of today’s protest-punk cultural movement, many of the tracks as far as I can tell have appeared elsewhere, but, dedicated collectors aside, this is a perfect opportunity for a lot of folk to update and familiarise themselves with contemporary international DIY punk. From the Northern Americas Chain Whip, Bib, Bootlicker etc.; from the Southern Americas Muro, Abyecta; from Northern Europe Vidro, Rat Cage, Ohyda, Bad Breeding, Industry and so on, and so on… Highlight, for me, has gotta be Warthog’s rendition of Motorhead’s “Iron Fist”.
The price of this compilation is high – I have every faith that raising money for the cause is the main concern here – but it does also come with an A4 booklet with each band given their own page.
“…this thing is a beast of a sampler platter that I would gladly serve up to anyone interested in getting into punk music in 2025” – M.R.R.
