The Minneapolis Uranium Club – “Infants Under The Bulb” LP
The fourth album by the oddball art punks and the first full length since 2018’s The Cosmo Cleaners. Recorded in Minneapolis over the course of 2023 by long time collaborator Grant Richardson. I feel like more and more these guys are mining from a very particular (and historical) seam of the American underground, one that I can’t really define with any clarity or certainty, but thoughts like Dimemberment Plan, Trumans water, Pere Ubu, Meat Puppets and Firehose randomly floated into my mind as these eleven tracks ran their course. Contributions from a horn section help make this one stand out even more. The Uranium Club are truly their own unique thing, with an important role to keep alive whatever it is that they’re doing, whatever it’s called – the 2020’s need ’em.
