Unkind – “Pelon Juuret” LP
Aggressive and intelligent at the same time, d-beat hardcore from Finland. Their second album for Relapse, released in 2013, it continues in the blackened punk direction but with added atmospherics and creativity – “as if Mogwai made a record of Tragedy covers or From Ashes Rise were influenced by Explosions In The Sky”. This remains a popular style, and there is an awful lot of it about, a d-beat-crust-punk mountain that gets ever bigger, but this is a prime example of how to make it stand out. Still sounds amazing.
