Without Love / Time X Heist split LP
An international matchup between Denver, Colorado’s Time X Heist and from Leeds, our own Without Love, who bring three tracks of urgently delivered melodic hardcore in the vein of Have Heart, Comeback Kid, and, to my ears, early 90s Californian straight edge hardcore (Rev, New Age etc.) – which is further confirmed when up pops a blazing rendition of Inside Out’s “Redemption”. And if you can get away with an Inside Out cover you’re doin’ pretty bloody good in my books. Without Love have slipped under my radar until recently and I’m now humbled by my ignorance (i’ve only just discovered this 2023 release and right now is mid 2026); there is a new hardcore beast prowling among us here in the UK, we should take notice. Time X Heist, meanwhile, are a well established and much celebrated force of modern youth crew (in this household at least), and their six contributions burn with hooky energy and passion. And they opt for cover version, too: One Last Wish’s “My Better Half” – which is an inspired choice that they cunningly reinvent as a blast-out melodic hardcore anthem. Job well done by both bands.
