Groundhogs – “Blues Obituary” LP

The heroes of British blues, what are the freaking Groundhogs doing in this here punk distro? I don’t think any explanantion is required… Progressive blues, dirtied-up into a proto metal/punk wall of aggressive guitar-drum action. Proper pioneers. It was listening to the Apostles as a teenager that introduced me to the timeless magic of the Groundhogs (that, and seeing them play live in a field somewhere near Yeovil in ’88). Slimmed down to the classic three piece line up of Tony TS McPhee on guitar, Pete Cruikshank on bass and Ken Pustelnik on drums, Blues Obituary was their second studio album, released by Liberty Records in 1969, (and what a year that was). This is the 50th Anniversary (50th!!) version with a limited edition die cut sleeve, liner notes, and two bonus tracks.
