Available on vinyl for the first time in years, The Casket Lottery’s Survival Is For Cowards reissue comes in an upgraded sleeve with snazzy-looking gloss/matt contrasts. Originally released by the excellent Second Nature label in 2001 (the band’s third full-length). Comes with an insert/lyric sheet and on blood red vinyl, limited to 500 copies.
The Casket Lottery where active from 1997 to 2006, starting life as a spin off from twisted metalcore maveriks Coalesce. And joined by the 15 year old drummer from Appleseed Cast. Their sound was aligned with the emo/indie rock sound prevalent at that time, ala Promise Ring, Get Up Kids, Sunny Day Real Estate, but with the added muscular kick that the you would expect from members of Coalesce. I always grouped them alongside Texas Is The Reason and early Planes Mistaken For Stars… with additional song-writing skills that lifted them up above their peers.
