Sullest – Self-titled LP
The debut album for a four-piece from Providence, Rhode Island. Featuring members of bands Weak Teeth, Math the Band, and Good Lord, they describe themselves as ‘stoner punk’, and I don’t know how accurate or helpful that is as a guide, their style and their influences seem to be so broad, easy categorisation doesn’t apply here. Throw a handful of At The Drive In, Dillinger Four, Iron Chic, Titus Adronicus, Kyuss, Fucked Up, Drug Church, up in the air, and then find out how it lands. One thing for sure, Sullest are not an Armageddon sounding band in an obvious way, at all, but as guitarist Ashley is part of the label’s team, there’s your explanation. This is, for definite, one of the big records of Spring 2025. Incorporating so many good things: big, big anthemic tunes, explosive rock-outs, weird time signatures, and defiant punk rock attitude.
