Subdued – “Over The Hills And Far Away” LP
Channeling the essence of mid ’80s anarcho punk. Bad Breeding helped start this trend some time ago, but London’s Subdued have picked up the Mortarhate influence (Exit Stance in particular) and taken it up another level. Each song is distinctly different from the other, and the tempo changes keep things unpredictable and excitingly intense. Some Amebix moments further add to the thrill of it all, (and with the reputation of Amebix being somewhat tarnished these days, it’s good to hear some of those more appealing stylistic qualities being reinvented in 2020). It makes an old anarcho vet very happy.
