Strangelight – “Adult Themes” LP
A new band out of Oakland, California and with members of Kowloon Walled City, Swingin’ Utters, Trap Them, and Transistor Transistor – a curious mix of different band membership, but, good news, the overriding style seems to be derived from Transistor Transistor more than any of the other bands (Woah, what a band they were. Much love). Strangelight continue in the same vein with a hard-and-heavy Hot Snakes vibe, but now tempered slightly by a mid tempo Wipers influence. A winning formula. Catchy riffs, rough/angry vocals and a dark feel to the rhythm section that gives weight to the driving, downstroke guitar attack.
