Stormcrow – “Enslaved In Darkness” LP
Stench driven crust from West Oakland, California. Listening to this, I assumed it was a new release by a new band. Turns out, Stormcrow were active from 2004 until 2011, and this 5 track mini-album was actually originally released in 2005. That says a lot about about the timeless nature of this style. And in a positive sense. I still listen to Amebix, after all, and they were from about four hundred and thirty years ago (aka Devon). Stormcrow was active in the underground punk and metal scenes, touring and sharing stages with Coffins, Mass Grave, Ghoul, Paintbox, Asunder and Hellshock. During this time they released several splits, including two through 20 Buck Spin. Twenty years later this repress retains all the classic vibes of the genre: scorched throat vocals, the grinding riffs, the stinky production, the dark, decorative, black ink sleeve art, even, of course, the distinct hand drawn typography. Limited to 500 copies , and includes stickers and 12 x18 screen-printed poster hand embossed with the Stormcrow logo.
