BLOODSTAINS – s/t LP

Modern punk from Santa Ana, CA heavily steeped in early Southern California first generation hardcore punk – so much so that I had to double check that this wasn’t a reissue of something that had snuck under the radar from Posh Boy Records circa 1981. Jee-sus, and they do it so damn well. A brilliant band name – yes, it’s insanely obvious, but it is also outstandingly brilliant, none the less –  and, sure enough, Agent Orange through and through. But no direct copy cat. This sits alongside Channel 3, Adolescents, D.I., Social Distortion, on a sidewalk, waiting to get busted by the cops just because of how they look. They should remake Suburbia to include a live song from Bloodstains. They’ve earned it. A Euro pressing of an album that was originally released, Stateside, by the band, in 2024 (there was an EP the year before released by Hostage Records – which makes sense, a highly appropriate label for these guys).
