Sleater-Kinney – “The Woods” Double LP
The seventh studio album, released by Sub Pop in 2005. At the time, a swan song recording (until reforming ten year slater), that was louder and more raucous than ever before. Perhaps in part due to the choice of new producer Dave Fridmann (of Mercury Rev) who had previously worked with Mogwai and Flaming Lips – piling on additional layers of distorted noise and wild guitar effects. Most of all, it’s the increased expression of wild aggression by drummer Janet Weiss that really takes this album up another level. A double vinyl, gatefold package. Side four is an etching.
