Siggy Magic and the Hey-Hoe Band – “Commercials For Free” 7″
An obscure gem dug-up from the hidden depths of first generation Canadian punk rock. Commercials For Free was a 20 minute DIY film from 1978 – a piece of fictional story-telling that also included some genuine archive footage of early punk in Vancouver (including Subhumans). And this is the musical soundtrack recording taken from that film, that coincided with its release in a limited run of 200 copies (so, yeah over £600 for the original!!). A fine and tasty piece of Killed by Death or Bloodstains style punk rock, with an added ‘fake punk’ novelty aspect. This is its first official reissue. Presumably the black vinyl version – hard to know, as each copy is hand sealed.
