Screaming Fist “Santa Plaga” 7″
Here’s some modern american punk to get the blood pumping. It has been some years since their 2019 debut EP, I had presumed that Screaming Fist were an equivalent of a one hit wonder, with members consumed and kept busy by their other bands and projects – but thankfully this is not the case. Gratitude all round. Top-notch, gritty yet melodic hardcore, with political lyrics in Spanish sung by Jasmine Watson (stress on the sung – as in, equal amounts singing to shouting) – best known for her bass work in Torso and Urban Sprawl, and capably backed-up by members of Planet On A Chain, Vaaska, Deskonocidos, Set It Straight, and many others. Is an album to follow? Fuck, I hope so.
