Saccharine Trust “Surviving You Always” LP
The first vinyl pressing since 1998 of the full-length album by the post-punk experimental outfit from California. Originally released by SST Records in 1984 as a follow-up to their debut, 1981’s Paganicons 12″ – a recording that was already pushing hard against the boundaries of punk, from which this album, Surviving You Always, picks-up and continues even further. Off-kilter jazz influences further seeping their way into a sound that was firmly within the SST earspace of the day i.e. Minuteman and the Meat Puppets. Like some of the other SST bands from this period, Saccharine Trust were not always an easy listen, but if you were heading in a direction that started with the Germs and Pere Ubo, via the Minutemen, towards Nomeansno and Victims Family – it would have all made perfect sense. Even more so now.
