Rudimentary Peni “The E.P.s of R.P. /Rudimentary Peni’s Extended Plays” LP
The two 7″ EPs by the early 80’s anarcho-punk outsider legends: the twelve track self-titled debut released by themselves in 1981 on Outer Himalayan Records, plus the eleven track Farce released by Crass Records in 1982. Two of the most important 7″ records to come out of any time, anywhere on the planet, and any type of music, right?
The Crass folks combined the two EPs onto one disc via their Corpus Christi label in 1987. Even though Farce was still relatively easy to find at the time, (albeit second hand with a tatty sleeve, stained by blue tack in the corners); meanwhile, the debut 7″ was an artefact of mythological legend, unheard and unseen, and so, of course, young punks of the late ’80s pounced upon the 12″ reissue with slavering enthusiasm. As indeed, once again, the very same (now old) punks will do for this new version on Sealed Records – a faithful reproduction of the Corpus Christi 12″, with Blinko’s meticulous pen and ink artwork reproduced on the cover, and including a (reduced size) version of the original insert, (plus a new inner sleeve featuring the cover artwork from Farce). Young punks of today should also take interest, as works of this level of dazzling uniqueness and timeless brilliance don’t come along often, if at all.
