The post-hardcore/screamo/mathy-experimentalists continue their journey into the realms of ‘progressive-metal’ (yikes). The sixth album, nearly 18 years down the line (yikes, again). The aggressive approach remains, as too do the moments of gob-smacking, big crescendo drama; while Eva Spence opens-up her vocal range even more with plenty of sung rather than screamed passages – which is very welcome (such a good frontperson, more of that singing please) and helps elevate this band way above the mere post-rock replicas that are out there, from Deafheaven to Manchester Orchestra and everyone in between. Captivating, spellbinding, enchanting, mesmerising, etc etc. Produced and mixed at The Ranch Production House outside of Southampton.
