Ripcord – “The Damage Is Done” LP
Due back in November/December 2025
The Damage Done 7″ flexi EP was released by the North Somerset band in 1985 (Raging Records number one), back when Children of the Revolution had Manic Ears. It was a humble, slightly modest debut for the band, and proper DIY – ‘pay no more than 50p’ (sold ten copies and instantly recouped their studio costs) – but it was a great representation of new talent and a clear sign of what was to come a year or two in the future. The furious energy and raw, youthful enthusiasm valiantly shines through, and sounding massively improved here on this new 12″ format compared to the old flippy-floppy-flexi version I received in the post all those decades ago. This new version also includes – for the first time – an impressive 16 page booklet.
On side one you get the entire flexi plus an unreleased version of “Blind Eye”, along with their contribution to the legendary Digging In Water album from 1987 (a compilation that is a fine representation of the late 80s scene, well worth checking out if early UK hardcore is of interest to you). Side 2 features a live set recorded in Weston Super Mare, 3rd May 1986 (originally released as a VHS recording by MCR-UK).
Single ticket, single ticket, single ticket to Weston Super Mare.
