Ripcord – “Harvest Hardcore” 7”
Remastered by the band members for a revamped sound quality, and repressed for the first time since its limited release back in 1988 on their own label, Raging Records. These West Country boys from Weston Super Mare took an American influence, (Siege and SSD in particular) and mixed it with the ethics and politics of the early to mid 80s UK punk movement. At the time, I found their two albums a bit flat and one dimensional, so I didn’t pick up on this their final release. Playing it now I’d have to say I did them something of a disservice. These tracks are by far their best. Tight, precise and with some savagely good ear-hooks. Likewise, with Doom’s Police Bastard from a similar place and time, it was the less noticed 7″ single that revealed the true greatness. This version of Harvest Hardcore has all 7 tracks, and includes both the UK and U.S. sleeve variations, and the release coincides with its 30 year anniversary!
