The Replacements – “Let It Be” LP
Punk rockers from late 70s Minneapolis who became key pioneers of future alternative rock. Let It Be is their third album, (following-up 1983’s Hootenanny), released in 1984 on Twin/Tone Records. A post-punk album with an adolescent-to-adult/coming-of-age theme, that leaves behind some of the hardcore energy (that they shared with neighbours and musical allies, Hüsker Dü), and incorporates new melody and up-tempo rock musicianship. Becoming a huge influence on The Lemonheads, Soul Asylum, Hold Steady, Flaming Lips, Green Day etc.
