Recollection “Vivid Dreams” 12″
A six track debut EP from members of Skinhead, Hammer Bros and Haywire. Dropping their aggressive hardcore tendencies to reveal the true melodic emo/”hard-indie” that lies within. As with Skinhead, a Fucked UP-meets-Hold Steady comparison applies, (at least in my mind); but nestled-down into a less hectic tempo that is more akin to Drug Church and Fiddlehead. And it’s a style that suits the self reflective narration of the vocals perfectly, more so than with Skinhead – who I don’t get on with so well, I think in part due to the weird Oi! pretension – and every thing about Recollection seems to fall into place with a more precise intention, and better tunes, too.
