Pygmy Lush – “Old Friends” LP
Recorded live in Salem, at God City Studios by Kurt Ballou, on Oct 13th- 18th, 2010. The third album from Virginia’s Pygmy Lush, who feature ex members of Malady and Pg.99. For their final full-length recording Pygmy Lush toned down the super-loud noise rock that featured heavily on2007’s Bitter River, and further developed the mellower, acoustic post-rock of 2008’s Mount Hope instead. While also introducing a new, and very welcome, Black Heart Procession influence. Breath-taking tension and quiet-but-intense dynamics, all underpinned with loose, pop-savvy genius – an incredible album of dark, post-screamo, folk music.
