Pygmy Lush – “Mount Hope” LP
From Sterling, Virginia, and formed by ex-members of Pg. 99 and Malady – they took the moody alt-country aspects of their debut, Bitter River into proper post screamo territory with this follow-up album of 2008. All the melancholy, none of the energy, volume and amplification – but works like a dream (think Slint/Christie Front Drive meets Bright Eyes/Elliot Smith). A much cherished band in this household.
