PUFFER – “Street Hassle” LP

Following-up their vinyl debut of 2023 – the self titled 7″ EP on Roachleg Records – a full-length album from Montreal’s backstreet punk rockers. Thumping hard, with raw-growl vocals and a right-side-of-degenerate sensibility – I find myself being reminded of Hank Wood And The Hammerheads, not necessarily a band I would seek out in 2025, I think my enthusiasm for Hank Wood dried-up some time ago, but Puffer are a refreshing reinvention of retro 70’s punk and a serious upgrade that is better in all respects – production, songwriting, musicianship and lyrics. Bloody hell, what is going-on in this corner of Canada these days? International hardcore punk central that’s for sure. it all sounds so consistently great!
