Changing direction from the previous punky sound that was more akin to Le Tigre and Bratmobile, this second full length from Washington DC’s ecclesiastic subversives explores poppier, post-punk scriptures: the gothic tribal beats and reverb bring to mind Savages; the agitational grooves and twangs – Gang Of Four/The Slits. Following the wisdom of Angel Olsen before them, Priests made the wise decision to head for Texas to record with John Congleton (Pater Chase etc.) so it sounds great.
