From the brief moment in time when just a handful of musicians from Bristol seemed to be taking over the airwaves across the whole of the country and beyond… By the mid 90’s trip hop – and the album Dummy especially – had reached cultural saturation to the point of overkill. But time is kind, and now a fresh reappraisal of the 1994 debut album by the North Somerset duo feels long overdue. Melodramatic gloom and despondency never sounded so magnificent. No surprise, looking back, that they became huge fans of drone/doom metal.
