Outspoken “The Current” 12″ EP
Forming in Huntington Beach, California, this top-league sXe hardcore band began life in late 1989. Emerging with the notable EP Survival in 1990, and then the full-length of 1992. Personally, I think it was this EP of 1993 where you find Outspoken hitting their peak powers. A stand-out record from the excellent roster of bands that were being released at that point in time by Convulsion and New Age. Outspoken’s second 7″ ranked alongside the Inside Out EP and Chain Of Strength’s What Holds Us Apart. Redefining their intention and solidifying the message, while also tentatively stepping closer to the new emerging sounds of post-hardcore – but not too much, there was absolutely no letting-up on the hardcore ferocity, speed and intensity. While subtle values like the studio production, backing tracks, and backing vocals – all helped elevate this EP to a new level of high achievement. Made available for the first time on 12″ format, this reissue includes the three original 7″ tracks, the two additional tracks from the original CD EP, as well as two bonus compilation tracks, “Spark” and “Spoke.”
