No Escape – “1990-1993” LP (Coke Bottle Clear)
This record captures all the original studio material that this New Jersey band recorded from 1990 to 1993 with new mixes and mastering. Compiling together for the first time on vinyl (since the Just Accept It CD discography that was released by Overkill in 1993) the two songs from theĀ split 7″ with Turning Point, and the track from the Rebuilding compilation, as well as the original demo. Completed by a 16 page 12″x12″ booklet. On its release in 1990 I pounced on the Rebuilding compilation 7″, and the big surprise for me, and probably others too, was that the track by the unknown new band, No Escape, provided the best contribution, beating the big players of the day: Burn, Turning Pint and Gorilla Biscuits! Immediately identifiable as a great band, but looking back, with credit where it is due, they possessed a sound (and a vocal style especially) that was way ahead of its time. Exceedingly powerful, and also, thoughtfully crafted songs that remained forever memorable. Tim Singer went on to front many excellent bands right up to the present day (Deadguy, Kiss It Goodbye, Bitter Branches, etc), and No Escape guitarist Steve Crudello also played in Turning Point. Other members of the band went on to play in Seven Gone.
