Newtown Neurotics – “Kick Out! The Newtown Neurotics Story” LP
Formed in 1979 in (new town) Harlow, The Newtown Neurotics are one of the most underrated of the second generation punk bands (a politicised mix of Clash/Stiff Little Fingers/Adverts). The 15 tracks featured on this comp rounds up their first six singles (1979 to 1984): Hypocrite and When The Oil Runs Out (both released on their own No Wonder label), 1982’s Kick Out The Tories and 1983’s Licensing Hours (both released on CNT records), Blitzkrieg Bop (1984 Razor records) and Suzi (1984 No Wonder). Also included is “Andy Is A Corporatist / Mindless Version” taken from the Son of Oi! compilation. The album comes with a 32 page booklet of archive photos, reviews, interviews and more.
