Moving Targets – “Fall” LP
Fall is the third album by Boston’s long-serving melodic-hardcore three piece – the first three albums (of the mid 80’s to early 90s) are all classics in their own right, and if it doesn’t have Pat Brady on drums a Moving Targets recording will only ever be half as good. No disrespect is meant to Kenny Chambers, he does a fine job of keeping the flame alive, but the old three-piece line-up (with the addition of either Pat Leonard or Chuck Freeman on bass) is the one that made them one of the best bands of their generation.
Fall, is a slightly less hardcore album by comparison to the previous two, with a bit less speed and a bit more rockiness. But still massive tunes, not least the track Away From Me, which stands-up as one of their most glorious moments of all time. Superb Lou Giordano production, as ever, (no wonder Bob Mould came to him a few years later to record Copper Blue). I think this is the original pressing from 1991 (?).
