Canada’s Mil-Spec follow-up 2018’s Changes EP with a long-playing debut for Lockin’ Out. Fast, tuneful youth crew style hardcore, that pays its dues to Turning Point, Bold, Inside Out, Have Heart, 108 and mewithoutYou. Eight songs, 22 minutes, it’s not a huge album, but it gives them plenty of room to expand their sound – still a taught balance tilting between punchy aggression and a more contemplative melody – and now with added atmospheric interludes. One of the best for 2020.
