Partly formed out of the backing band for Steve Austin’s Today Is The Day, Mastodon released their debut full-length on Relapse in 2002 (now in its tenth pressing). Progressive metal, in the same tradition of Voidod and Celtic Frost, taking the genre up a notch or two while still retaining an aggressive sense of violent danger.
