Description
Loosey “A Retrospective: 2023 to 2025” LP
Big bang rock’n’roll from New York City. A compilation album of the limited cassette EPs – helpfully entitled as Spring Promo ’24 and Winter Promo ’23 – along with a new’un, making ten tracks in total.
A New York City band to its core. Sometimes you need to stress a band’s location when writing-up a description. And this is is definitely the case with New York’s Loosey – if they originated from anywhere else outside of NYC they might get dismissed as a merely a rowdy bar band. But there is much more going on here: from the Funkadelic inspired intro, to the soulful holler of the vocals, the glam rock stomp of the beats. The rock’n’roll corniness, and the understated production values, are merely deceptive devices to partly hide the brilliance within, there’s a knowing suss at play here. They ain’t schtick, it’s just a trick. And a good trick at that.
