The debut album by Michigan’s a hard-living noise-rockers that was originally released in 1989 by Touch and Go Records. Recorded by Butch Vig, and more recently remastered by Bob Weston. It has never been a challenge to find another soul with whom you could share your appreciation of Negative Approach. Who doesn’t love ’em? But discovering a fellow fan of the Laughing Hyenas – Jake Brannon’s new band following the demise of NA, for which he was joined by the late, great guitarist (and former L Seven vocalist) Larissa Strickland – now that was a more precious and significant find. For too few understood their greatness back in the day. Taking the psychotic fury and cascading rhythms of Scratch Acid (and sharing the Birthday Party vibes), retaining the hardcore aggression of NA, while adding a deranged, shit-out-of-luck griminess. A band too hard-edged, crazed, and dangerous for fans of Shellac and Slint.
