Kerosene 454 “Came By To Kill Me” LP
From the archives of Washington DC, the second album by K454, originally released in 1996 as a Slowdime/Dischord Records split label release. Slowdime Records was run in part by K454’s John Wall (also of Canyon), who formed the band with brother Jim Wall and Erik Denno.
This band were a terrific combination of mid-90’s post-punk/hardcore flavours: the discordance of Unwound/Sonic Youth, the anthemic and rhythmic power of Jawbox/Fugazi, plus a little of the off-kilter dynamics of Bastro (the original math rock pioneers). The Came By to Kill Me album was the first recording with drummer Darren Zentek (formerly of the band, Glendale, and more recently Continuals) and it took place six days in the summer of 1996 with J. Robbins (Jawbox) and Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios with help from Juan Carrera (Warmers, Slowdime Records). Now back in print after 28 years on Solid Brass Records, and remastered from the original tapes.
