Description
Irked “The Grievance” LP
The debut album from the Tyne and Wear band who excel in their own distinct brand of modern day punk. Lots and lots of influences/flavours are stirred-in here. Too many to mention, really – little tit-bits of this ‘n that from all over the decades, but never too blatant to be obvious. Outsider punks keeping it fresh and original. I want to make a regional reference to a band called Dan from a long time ago… but it’s tenuous link (I just wanted an opportunity to mention Darlington’s Dan, ’cause they don’t get enough recognition and their records still sound good. Shout-out to Sofahead, too). Fourteen songs, recorded by by Sam Grant (of Pigs x 7), with Helen’s songwriting and vocal talents absolutely steering the way for the rest of the band to follow (very capably too) – big tunes delivered with rowdy aplomb. For fans of Gimic, Sex Germs, CCTV, 90’s Kill Rock Stars, and a good direction in which to send anyone who keeps banging-on about Amyl And The Sniffers in need of further enlightenment and nourishment.
