Ink & Dagger – “Drive This Seven Inch Wooden Stake Through My Philadelphia Heart” LP

The highly influential vampire/horror themed hardcore band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania finally get their long-overdue appreciation and reissue treatment from the ever-reliable Trust Records. Starting with the 12″ version of the first two 8″ EPs.
A very fucking worthy series of Ink & Dagger reissues starts here with their debut release.  A wonderful hardcore band that appeared in the mid-to-late  90’sout of the remains of Frail, Flagman, Guilt and Crud Is A Cult. Their shared origins in the early 90’s straight edge scene was apparent in their style and sound, but crucially, put through the mangle of Rorschach, Swiz and Deadguy, giving them that special 90’s twisted, mathy, metallic quality, which in turn made Ink & Dagger an important pivotal band, and whose legacy, I think, was heavily pilfered by Converge, (amongst others, namely: Thursday, Dillinger Escape Plan, Poison The Well, and At The Drive In).
This Seven Inch Wooden Stake Through My Philadelphia Heart was originally a four track 7″ EP released by Initial Records in 1997, and it was almost immediately reissued on 12″/CD format with the addition of the five tracks from the debut 7″, Love is Dead, released on Happy Days Records the year before. Plus one other previously unreleased song. All tracks now remastered.
