HOT LOAD – “Realized” LP

The second full -length for this hard-rockin’n ragin’ LA, California punk band. There has been plenty of this sort of revisionist malarky over the past decade – 70s hard rock by way of of early 80s hardcore punk – and Hot Load line-up to take their turn and to then have a bloody good crack at it. Fully embracing the essential need to fill-up the tank with a gallons of red diesel, and then let it rip. Hard.
No wild-rocker’s posturing here, very much feels like the real deal – loaded-up, way over the weight limit, with mucho D-beat heaviness, griminess and speed (along with the almost obligatory but always welcome nod to Poison Idea), coupled with a clear understanding of the all important riff. The ones that not only lodge in your lobes but also power the whole song from start to finish.  And fabulous songs they are too, it’s not just about demon riffing and chest thumping beats. All round satisfaction is guaranteed.
